US Supreme Court Agrees to Hear Case , That Could Impact Nationwide , Abortion Pill Access.
On December 13, the United States Supreme Court
agreed to hear arguments in a case regarding
the most widely-used abortion pill in the nation.
'The Guardian' reports that it will be the first
time the highest court hears an abortion rights
case since overturning Roe v.
Wade in 2022.
The case could determine the future of access to
the pill and the Federal Drug Administration's
authority to regulate a number of medications.
Last year, the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine,
a group of anti-abortion organizations and
doctors, filed a federal lawsuit against the FDA.
The lawsuit accuses the agency of overstepping
its authority by approving mifepristone, one of two
drugs commonly used in abortions, in 2000.
In April, a federal judge in Texas suspended
the FDA's approval of mifepristone and
had the medication pulled from the market.
In August, the U.S. Court of Appeals for
the Fifth Circuit ruled that the FDA should
significantly restrict access to mifepristone.
.
In response, the Biden administration and Danco
Laboratories, the manufacturer of mifepristone,
called on the Supreme Court to hear the case.

The Supreme Court paused lower-court rulings until justices

California Governor Gavin Newsom has ignited a heated feud with Donald Trump over GOP-led redistricting efforts in Texas, warning of a national “map arms race.” After Democrats blocked a Republican vote in Texas, Newsom mocked Trump on social media, vowing to retaliate by redrawing California’s maps to offset Republican gains. He accused Trump of undermining democracy and urged him to pressure Texas Governor Greg Abbott to halt the plan. Critics warn Newsom’s retaliation could erode Democrats’ moral stance on fair redistricting.

Putin has stunned the West with a surprise signal on Ukraine, suggesting that Moscow could offer security guarantees under certain conditions. Speaking after talks with Donald Trump and Slovak PM Robert Fico, Putin contrasted Trump’s “new approach” with Biden’s policies, stressing that Ukraine’s EU path may be possible but NATO membership remains a hard red line. The move has ignited speculation about a potential geopolitical shift in the Ukraine war.

In a stunning move, President Trump has revoked Kamala Harris’ extended Secret Service protection, stripping away security granted by President Biden after her vice presidency. Harris, the first woman and person of color to serve as Vice President, was set to receive an extra year of coverage due to heightened threats. Effective September 1, her protective agents, property surveillance, and federal threat intelligence will end—just weeks before her national book tour. The decision has sparked backlash from California leaders, raising concerns over safety and mounting private security costs.

US Vice President J.D. Vance has defended his fiery Oval Office clash with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, calling the February confrontation “useful” for Americans to witness. The heated exchange erupted during Zelensky’s Washington visit to secure a deal over Ukraine’s mineral resources. When Donald Trump explained his decision to stay neutral and pursue diplomacy with Moscow instead of ramping up military aid, Zelensky accused him of speaking from the safety of “a nice ocean.” Vance shot back, calling the remark “disrespectful,” and Trump told Zelensky not to lecture Americans. Vance later argued that years of unchecked aid under Joe Biden lacked strategy and failed to advance peace. He said the episode exposed Washington’s frustrations and underlined Trump’s push for a settlement with Moscow. The clash has become a flashpoint in US-Ukraine relations, showing cracks in support for Kyiv as Trump courts a diplomatic end to the war.

In a fiery White House exchange, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung sided with U.S. President Donald Trump as both leaders accused Joe Biden of enabling North Korea’s nuclear rise. President Lee told Trump the Korean peninsula was “stable” during Trump’s first term, but claimed North Korea advanced its weapons program significantly under Biden’s watch. Trump immediately seized the moment, declaring, “They would not have done that if I were President,” to which Lee replied, “I completely agree with you.” The dramatic on-camera moment is fueling debate in Washington and Seoul, with critics warning that such public criticism of Biden could inflame U.S. domestic politics and reshape Korean diplomacy. Supporters of Trump, however, hailed the remarks as proof that his strongman approach had kept Pyongyang in check. The sharp rebuke leaves Biden facing fresh questions over his North Korea policy.
