A spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) announced that the country's air defence units successfully shot down an American MQ-9 Reaper drone while it was conducting hostile activities over the central province of Bayda.
Yahya Saree, in a televised statement on Tuesday, revealed that the unmanned aerial vehicle was targeted with a locally made surface-to-air missile.
He added that footage of the shootdown would be released later.
According to Saree, this marks the fifth aircraft that Yemeni air defences have downed since the beginning of operations supporting Palestinians in Gaza amid Israel's aggressive campaign.
