The strikes targeted the city of Belgorod and nearby villages, causing significant damage to residential buildings, schools, and vehicles.
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported multiple casualties, including children, and highlighted ongoing tensions and cross-border attacks between Ukraine and Russia.
Ukrainian presidential advisor Mykhailo Podolyak suggested that any deal made with Russia would not benefit Ukraine and that Moscow would just "drag (us) to hell".

A tragic incident occurred in the Kaluga Region as an Mi-28 helicopter crashed during a routine flight, resulting in the death of all crew members on board. The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the fatal crash and assured that no damage was caused on the ground. The helicopter went down in a forested area near the village of Klenki, within the Zhizdrinsky District, approximately 150 kilometres (93 miles) from the Ukrainian border. Head of the Zhizdrinsky District Alexander Barybin provided this information, highlighting that the crash site is relatively remote.
