Ed Davey criticises Sunak aide for betting on election date
One of Rishi Sunak’s closest parliamentary aides has said he made a “huge error of judgment” by betting on the date of the General Election just days before the Prime Minister called it.
Liberal Democrats leader Sir Ed Davey said: “If someone knows the outcome of something, it seems to me morally questionable for them to put a bet on it if they know the result of that outcome.” Report by Covellm.

Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey has thanked candidates who did not win in the election for their work during the campaign. A man who threw a coffee cup at Reform UK leader and Clacton MP Nigel Farage during the General Election campaign has been given a suspended sentence.
Josh Greally, 28, from Derbyshire, was arrested in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, on 11 June after throwing what looked like a paper cup containing a liquid, and another object, at Mr Farage. Reacting to the verdict on Wednesday, Mr Farage said: "Frankly, if a man can threaten me in that way and not get a custodial sentence, that doesn't give much deterrence to anyone else. I am dissatisfied in the extreme."
