Hezbollah's Stern Warning Shakes Israel: 'New Phase' in the Conflict Will Make 'Israelis Weep'
Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah announced that the conflict with Israel has entered "a new phase" after the targeted assassinations of Hezbollah's top military commander, Fouad Shukr, and Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh.
In a fiery speech at Shukr's funeral, Nasrallah declared that Israel has "crossed red lines'' with these killings and must now brace for "rage and revenge on all the fronts supporting Gaza." Nasrallah revealed that he had temporarily ordered Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon to curb their operations on Wednesday and Thursday.
However, he warned that they would resume with increased intensity on Friday.
Israel has launched a wave of air strikes across Gaza, with northern Gaza City now a primary target following evacuation warnings from the Israeli military. At least 80 Palestinians have been killed since dawn, with dozens more wounded. In blatant defiance of a ceasefire agreement, Israeli drone strikes on Saturday killed at least two people and wounded several others in southern Lebanon. A drone strike in Mahrouna targeted a motorcycle, killing one and injuring two bystanders in a passing car.
