PM ‘really pleased’ to hit 2m NHS appointments target
Sir Keir Starmer says he is “really pleased” the government has delivered on its manifesto promise of two million extra NHS appointments but adds there is “lots, lots more to do”.
NHS England figures show that between July and November 2024 there were almost 2.2 million more appointments compared with the equivalent period in 2023.
The prime minister welcomed a host of public service workers including emergency service workers and teachers to the garden in Downing Street. Addressing them in a speech on Tuesday, Keir Starmer said: "We said we'd be a government of serivce and we should be talking to people in public service, taking on board what you have to say to us and then distilling it together because you're part of this."
