U.S Judge Rules China Liable For Covid, Orders $24 Billion Penalty, State To Seize Chinese Assets
Missouri's attorney general has won a lawsuit blaming China for mishandling the Covid pandemic, with a state judge ruling that China must pay $24 billion in damages.
Officials say they plan to seize Chinese assets within Missouri to enforce the ruling.
China, however, has dismissed the lawsuit, calling it baseless in fact and law.
The case marks a significant escalation in U.S.-China tensions over the origins and handling of the pandemic.
The Chinese government did not respond in court, leading to the ruling in Missouriās favor.
JD Vanceās old campaign plane, famously dubbed āTrump Force Two,ā has taken a new routeānow serving as a deportation aircraft for ICE. The Boeing 737, once used to court donors during the 2024 campaign, has since April flown at least 16 deportation missions to Mexico and Central America, confirmed by immigrant advocates and media. Registered to a Missouri company, the plane previously moved over 500 migrants on ICE flights in 2018. DHS declined to comment on operational details citing security concerns.
