US President Donald Trump made waves on April 27, claiming that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is ready to give up Crimea, a statement that contradicts Ukraine’s position on the Russian-occupied territory. This came after their first in-person meeting at the Vatican following a tense argument in the Oval Office in February. Trump also discussed China tariffs and the controversial death of Jeffrey Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre, making it a loaded press interaction that further fuels international tensions.

Sir Keir Starmer says a stabilised economy has allowed the government to reinstate most winter fuel payments. Nine million pensioners in England and Wales will now receive support this winter after a £1.25bn U-turn. The Prime Minister denied the move was a response to backlash, insisting it followed a reassessment of the country’s financial position. Report by Covellm. Emperor penguins, the largest of their kind, are facing a growing threat as shrinking sea ice puts their future at risk. The birds rely on stable ice for up to eight months to raise their chicks, but as the Southern Ocean warms, that vital platform is melting too quickly. Scientists are alarmed by satellite data, which shows a sharp decline in colony numbers, with some areas disappearing twice as fast as predicted just seven years ago. Storms, changing weather and predators like orca whales are also contributing to their decline. Report by Covellm.
