Mayor glad there were no fatalities in Liverpool crash
Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region has said it’s “good news” that there were no “fatalities” after a car ploughed into a crowd of fans at the Liverpool FC's Premier League victory parade on Monday evening.
Speaking after a 53-year-old man, believed to the driver, was arrested, he questioned, “how did a car head this way down this street?”

Steve Rotheram has paid tribute to "family man" Diogo Jota, who has died in a car accident aged 28 in the Spanish province of Zamora. The mayor of Liverpool City Region shared his "devastation" at the news adding, "it's a loss to football and it's a loss to Liverpool Football Club, but it's an unbelievable loss to his family". A 53-year-old man, Paul Doyle, has been charged after a car ploughed into a crowd at the end of Liverpool football club’s Premier League victory parade on Monday evening.
