A tragic aviation disaster struck Ahmedabad on Thursday as Air India Flight AI171, a scheduled service to London Gatwick, crashed just seconds after takeoff.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, registered as VT-ANB, had departed at 1:10 PM IST with 242 people onboard — 230 passengers and 12 crew members.
The flight was expected to travel 6,849 km over 9 hours and 45 minutes, crossing the Middle East, Turkey, and Europe.
However, flight tracking data showed its last signal at 1:38:51 PM IST, indicating a crash moments after liftoff.
