Military bagpipers performed a lament at dawn on the 80th anniversary of Victory over Japan Day.
The bagpipers played at various locations across the UK including Whitehall, the National Arboretum in Staffordshire, Edinburgh Castle in Scotland and the Japanese Garden of Peace in London.

A bus mounted the pavement on Victoria Street, central London, at around 8.20am on Thursday, injuring 17 people. Two were treated at the scene, while 15, including the bus driver, were taken to hospital. A witness described the scene, saying: "There was a lot of people...
