US Vs Venezuela FACE OFF: Venezuela Deploys Warships, Drones, 15,000 Troops to Confront US
Tensions in the Caribbean are spiraling as Venezuela deploys warships, surveillance drones, and 15,000 troops to confront the massive U.S. naval buildup off its coast.
President Nicolás Maduro has mobilized 4.5 million militia, suspended civilian drone flights, and petitioned the UN, accusing Washington of threatening Venezuela’s sovereignty.
Tensions are escalating in the Caribbean as the United States deploys three Aegis-equipped guided-missile destroyers — USS Gravely, USS Jason Dunham, and USS Sampson — off the Venezuelan coast. The move comes just days after Washington raised its bounty on Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro to $50 million, accusing him of narco-terrorism and drug trafficking. Maduro condemned the U.S. naval deployment as “illegal” and a blatant “regime change attempt,” warning that any aggression against Venezuela would amount to an attack on all of Latin America and the Caribbean. In a pointed message, he invoked China, brandishing a Huawei phone allegedly gifted by Xi Jinping, and mocked U.S. efforts while showcasing ties with Beijing. China has strongly opposed the U.S. buildup, accusing Washington of violating sovereignty. With mounting pressure, Maduro faces heightened risks while aligning with Russia, Iran, and China against U.S. policies in the region.

Hurricane Erin has strengthened to a Category 4 storm, threatening the U.S. East Coast with dangerous surf, rip tides, and storm surge. The storm has already caused flooding and power outages in Puerto Rico and the Bahamas, where disaster officials urged residents to prepare for possible impacts. With hurricane-force winds extending 60 miles from its center, Erin is expected to pass east of the Bahamas before moving between Bermuda and the U.S. Outer Banks, prompting evacuations on Hatteras Island.

The UN has officially declared a famine in Gaza—the first ever in the Middle East—warning that over 500,000 Palestinians are already starving, with numbers expected to rise beyond 640,000 by September. The IPC has raised Gaza to Phase Five, its highest alert level, amid Israel’s blockade preventing vital aid deliveries. Despite repeated UN warnings, Israel dismisses famine claims as “Hamas lies.” Meanwhile, wealthy Muslim nations largely remain silent, focusing on ties with Israel while Gaza faces unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.

Colombia has been rocked by one of its deadliest coordinated attacks in recent years, leaving at least 17 people dead. Authorities say dissidents of the defunct FARC rebels launched two brutal strikes: a car bomb outside a military aviation school in Cali and a drone attack on a police helicopter in Antioquia. At least 12 police officers were killed in the helicopter attack, which targeted personnel eradicating coca leaf crops, the raw material for cocaine. Another five lives were lost in the car bomb blast, which also injured more than 30 people. President Gustavo Petro initially blamed the Gulf Clan drug cartel but later pointed to FARC dissidents as key perpetrators. The violence underscores Colombia’s deepening security crisis as drug cartels and rebel remnants escalate attacks. The United Nations recently reported coca cultivation reached record highs, fueling tensions across the country.
