EU, US could agree on critical minerals despite steel failure, says France
Friday, 20 October 2023 French Trade Minister Olivier Becht believes that the European Union and the United States could still reach a deal on critical minerals, despite their failure to agree on steel and aluminium tariffs. Becht expects an agreement to be reached in the coming weeks or months, allowing critical minerals used in electric vehicle batteries sourced from Europe to be eligible for tax breaks. The meeting is now expected to be dominated by the crisis in the Middle East.
