US stocks open lower as Treasury yields remain high

IndiaTimes Friday, 20 October 2023
Wall Street stocks dipped as Treasury yields remained high and traders monitored the conflict in the Middle East. The Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased by 0.2%, the S&P 500 Index slipped by 0.2%, and the Nasdaq Composite Index dropped by 0.4%. The yield on the 10-year US Treasury note briefly surpassed 5% for the first time since 2007. The market is also keeping an eye on the US House of Representatives' effort to elect a new Speaker, which is hindering legislative work.
