German government may oppose EV duty cuts

The German government is planning to file a protest against the Indian government's proposed import duty tariff regime for electric cars, which they believe will unfairly benefit Tesla and disadvantage German brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and BMW. They argue that companies that have already invested in India should not be left out of any subsidized regime. Meanwhile, Indian companies like Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra are also concerned about the proposed duty cut and believe it goes against the government's commitment to reward early and local investors.
