Steel unions protest against alleged MoU with Jindal company

IndiaTimes Monday, 18 December 2023
Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) workers and unions protest the alleged agreement between the plant management and Jindal Company. Unions demand to merge VSP with Sail, citing the need for captive mines of iron ore. The plant's Blast Furnace III has been shut down for years. Workers allege that the management plans to run the furnace with Jindal's help, causing a loss of Rs 3000 per ton for the company. The workers plan to oppose this move and question why Tata and Sail are not being considered for assistance.
