Air India crash: US FAA, Boeing says 'fuel switch locks safe'; probe report raised questions on engine cutoff
Monday, 14 July 2025 () Following the Air India Flight 171 crash, the FAA and Boeing have privately affirmed the safety of fuel switch locks on Boeing aircraft. India's AAIB preliminary report questioned if the fuel switches were accidentally activated, leading to engine failure. The FAA issued a notification stating the fuel control switch design doesn't warrant an Airworthiness Directive.
Aviation expert Terry Tozer comments on preliminary findings into the Air India crash in which investigators say the fuel supply was manually cut off.
