The world's top golfer was arrested in Louisville, Kentucky, on May 17, NBC News reports. .

Scheffler was charged with "second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding signals from officers directing traffic," NBC News reports.
The 27-year-old golfer was later released

Scheffler says that the incident was the result of a misunderstanding following a fatal accident at the club earlier that day.
