Karan on flawed gender politics in KKHH

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 25 October 2023
Bollywood director Karan Johar has openly admitted that the gender politics portrayed in his debut film, 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', are fundamentally flawed. He acknowledged that the character played by Shah Rukh Khan initially favored the "hot girl" over Kajol's character, sending a problematic message about love and attraction. Karan stated that he would not replicate such gender politics today and reflected on how his perception changed regarding stalking as a form of romance. He also playfully criticized a famous dialogue from the film, highlighting its paradoxical nature.
