Kiran Rao, after a hiatus, directs "Laapataa Ladies," produced by ex-husband Aamir Khan. The film, discovered through a script competition, premiered at TIFF. The exhaustive casting process involved 5,000 actors, reflecting the filmmakers' dedication. Kiran's return to directing brought a learning curve due to the film's complexity, featuring a rural setting, comedy satire, and songs. The film is adapted from an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami, with screenplay and dialogue by Sneha Desai and Divyanidhi Sharma.
