More than 250,000 flee Sudan safe zone after takeover by militia responsible for Darfur destruction
Tuesday, 19 December 2023 A critical holdout and humanitarian hub in central Sudan's al Jazira state has fallen to the militia terrorising civilians in their fight for territorial control of the country.
The UK is almost doubling its aid to Sudan, to 89 million pounds, as the terrible effects of the war there continue to escalate. Foreign Office minister Andrew Mitchell visited Chadβs border with Darfur to see for himself what threatens to become the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.
