Reeves eyes new year trip to China to bolster trade ties
Tuesday, 1 October 2024 Rachel Reeves, the chancellor, is drawing up plans for a visit to China early next year that would include resuming a key financial services trade summit for the first time since 2019.
The chancellor says the welfare system "needs reform", as more than 40 MPs have written to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer urging him to pause and reassess planned cuts to disability benefits.
