Mayotte hit by new storm just weeks after devastating cyclone
Sunday, 12 January 2025 A fresh tropical storm has struck Mayotte in the Indian Ocean just weeks after a deadly cyclone which killed at least 39 people and left more than 200 still missing.
Less than a month after the ravages of cyclone Chido, residents of Mbouini are coping with downpours and flooding in Mayotte, due to tropical storm Dikeledi, which killed three people in Madagascar.
In a major escalation the United States has deployed 2 B-52 bombers at its airforce base in Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean as tensions with Yemeni Houthis rise. The boost in its airstrike capability by the U.S. comes just days after Houthis struck Israel’s Ben Gurion airport and Israel retaliated by a massive strike at Yemen’s Hodeidah port. Is Yemen on the brink of a destructive war?
