J&K: Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist arrested in Kupwara; explosives recovered
Wednesday, 9 September 2020 () The security forces on Wednesday (September 9, 2020) arrested a suspected terror operative linked to the proscribed terror group Hizbul Mujahideen in J&K's Kupwara district.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated Police Premier League (PPL) T-20 cricket tournament in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar. Director General of Police (DGP) of J-K, Dilbag Singh was also present in the event. 16 teams from Srinagar are participating in the tournament. "16 teams from Srinagar are participating in it. We want youth and children to have some relaxed and healthy moments," DGP said.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Saturday said that he was not against the operations being carried out by security forces in the valley but against the loss of innocent lives during those operations. "The Army has agreed that the three persons who were killed in Shopian were killed by mistake and the government should provide a huge compensation in this case," Abdullah said. Yesterday, Army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane had said that the investigation into the Amshipora case will be conducted with utmost fairness and will be taken to their logical conclusion. Meanwhile, the Army said that the inquiry ordered by the Army authorites into Operation Amshipora has concluded adding that during the operation, powers vested under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) 1990 were exceeded.

India's permanent representative to the United Nations, TS Tirumurti has lashed out at Pakistan for harbouring terror groups on its soil. Indian envoy to the UN said that Pakistan is the nerve centre of terrorism and added the even its Prime Minister Imran Khan had admitted that some 40,000 terrorists were present in Pakistan. 'Pakistan is home to the largest number of listed terrorists, internationally designated terrorist entities and individuals, including Jamaat-ud-Dawah, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Hizbul Mujahideen', said Tirumurti. Referring to the United Nations’ 26th report of the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team concerning ISIS, the ambassador said that there is a clear acknowledgement that the leadership and funding for terrorist entities like Al-Qaeda, ISIS emanate from Pakistan. The Indian envoy's attack on Pakistan comes even as it has been trying to rake up the Kashmir issue at international forums but has failed to gain any support. Indian Army conducted a job fair and career counseling event for the educated unemployed youths of Gujjarpatti Lolab valley in Kupwara, a district in North Kashmir. The experts held intensive discussion and explained the importance of peaceful life with dignity. Interestingly, nine boys were given job offers by agencies and they will be placed all across the Kashmir valley in various sectors. "In order to prevail peace in the Valley, we have given job appointments to the nine youth in different sectors like hotel industry, Petrol Pumps, Cotton industries across India. This will help them lead a good life with their family," Mahajan told ANI. "We are very thankful that they have given us a good opportunity. We belong to a family that cannot afford things that they have provided us. This job opportunity will help our family to grow," Shabir Ahmad, a beneficiary said. Khurshid Malik, Member Block development Council, Sogam Lolab thanked Indian Army for the initiative and providing new opportunities to the youth of Kashmir.
