2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections: How BSP supremo Mayawati sets a tall order for party
Friday, 15 January 2021 Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has set a tough challenge for her party in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. On Friday, her 65th birthday, she declared that her party would not cobble up any alliance for the upcoming state polls in UP and Uttarakhand. However, in the present circumstances, this claim appears to be a tall order.
BSP chief Mayawati, while welcoming the COVID-19 inoculation drive beginning Saturday, requested the Centre to provide the vaccine for free to the common man. She said if that does not happen, then the respective state governments should ensure that people get the vaccine for free. She said if her party comes to power in Uttar Pradesh, then it will ensure that everyone gets tot coronavirus vaccine for free. According to the government, the shots will be offered first to an estimated one crore healthcare workers, and around two crore frontline workers, and then to persons above 50 years of age, followed by persons younger than 50 years of age with associated comorbidities. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has launched a book in the national capital. She launched the book on the occasion of her 65th birthday on January 15. The book is written in two languages-English and Hindi. Book titled- 'A travelogue of my struggle-ridden life and BSP movement' in English and 'Mere sangharshmay jeewan evam BSP movement ka safarnaama' in Hindi were launched.

"The party will contest the elections in all Assembly constituencies on its own," she added.

A class 11 student jumped off his 15th-floor apartment and died in UP's Noida. The teen was allegedly battling depression due to his physical looks, skin complexion. The local Sector 49 police station was alerted around 5 am about the incident. Police said the body was sent for autopsy and no complaint has been made by the family. Ranvijay Singh, ADCP, Noida said, “A 17-year-old kid jumped off his apartment and died in Noida Sector 78. His parents said their son had been battling depression due to his skin complexion. The boy's parents were living separately and he was staying with his father.”
