Farmers plan major road blockade to mark 100th day of protests

Farmers who have been protesting against the new farm laws plan to block a Western Peripheral Expressway outside New Delhi on Saturday, the 100th day of their campaign. Farmers from Punjab, Haryana and UP plan to stop all traffic on the six-lane expressway for up to five hours, said the union leaders said on Friday, who want the new farm laws to be repealed.

At Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital (LNJP), one of India's largest COVID-only facilities with more than 1,500 beds, a stream of ambulances ferried patients to the overflowing casualty ward on Thursday. "We are definitely over-burdened. We are already working at full capacity," said the hospital's medical director, Suresh Kumar.
