Rajiv Gandhi assassination case: SC orders release of convict AG Perarivalan
Wednesday, 18 May 2022 The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the release of AG Perarivalan, a convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. Perarivalan has already spent more than 30 years in jail. Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on the night of May 21, 1991 at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu. In its May 1999 order, the top court had upheld the death sentence of four convicts, including Perarivalan, in the case.
