Close on the heels of the statement by Bihar education minister Chandra Shekhar, claiming that ‘the Ramcharitmanas promoted social discrimination and spread hatred in society’, Samajwadi Party MLC Swami Prasad Maurya on Sunday said that certain verses of the Tulsidas’s book were casteist in nature and derogatory to backwards and Dalits, and should be removed.
