Northeast Diary: Nagas open up on separate state demand of Kukis
Saturday, 10 June 2023 Days after union home minister Amit Shah ruled out any disintegration of Manipur, Kuki groups have reiterated their demand for a separate administration. The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the apex body of the community, has reportedly shot off a letter to Shah, alleging there was a “direct and open threat” to the Kuki people from the majority Meiteis and that the “total separation” was the need of the hour.
The Delhi Police initiated action after a BJP complaint about a "doctored video" allegedly showing Amit Shah advocating the removal of SC/ST reservation. BJP claims the original video referred to Muslim reservation in Telangana. Social media, including Congress handles, shared the video, sparking controversy. BJP warns of legal action against those involved. Amit Shah's past remarks on Muslim reservation in Telangana are cited.

The personnel are from CRPF's 128 Battalion deployed at Naransena area in Bishnupur district in the state. Before the forces retaliated they (militants) fired on camp inmates, and four personnel got serious injuries out of which two succumbed to the injuries. Investigation will be done and we will take action against them. We will not spare them and bring them to the Court of law. They will have to pay for this as per the law of the land... This is the first time that they have attacked the forces, none of the militants of Meiteis or Kukis attacked the forces as the forces are here to maintain peace and that is how we are in the middle of both communities. They call these forces (paramilitary) neutral forces... Earlier, you might have seen that the groups are attacking the national infrastructure like the roads and towers. Now, they are attacking central forces. How can this be tolerated?..."
