Every passing day of neglect confirms belief that BJP interested in prolonging conflict: Congress on Manipur violence
Monday, 19 June 2023 The Congress on Monday stepped up its attack on the government over the situation in violence-hit Manipur, saying "every passing day of neglect" confirms the belief that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP are interested in prolonging the conflict. "Manipur is burning since 49 days. On Day 50, will PM Modi fly away to foreign lands, without uttering a single word on the ongoing crisis," Congress general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal said.

On Wednesday, the Election Commission took action against former Telangana CM and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao, barring him from campaigning for 48 hours, effective from 8 pm today. This decision was made due to "derogatory and objectionable statements" made by Rao against the Congress party. The EC's action followed a complaint filed by Congress leader G Niranjan, prompting the commission to issue a notice to K Chandrashekar Rao. The EC noted that Rao had previously received several advisories and instructions regarding his speeches.
