Prime Minister Narendra Modi's push for a Uniform Civil Code to replace the personal laws of each religion may not find takers from Tamil Nadu, including ally AIADMK as well. Continuing its tirade against the BJP, the DMK on Wednesday called upon the national party to first introduce a uniform code for Hindu religion. Edappadi K Palaniswami-led AIADMK, whose alliance with the BJP has been rather shaky, has been careful in its response. The party had taken a strong view against the UCC and made it an election promise as a NDA constituent for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
