Kullu stays cut off for 3rd day, thousands of vehicles stranded

Kullu continues to be cut off from the rest of the state as all roads, including the Chandigarh-Manali national highway, remained blocked for the third day on Friday. Over 1,000 vehicles remained stuck at various places on Chandigarh-Manali highway and on the alternative link road in Kullu and Mandi districts. Most of the stuck light vehicles are loaded with vegetables and the stranded drivers are being provided with food and shelter at various relief camps set up by the local administrations in Pandoh, Aut and Bajaura. The stranded traders and drivers of many such vehicles said on Friday that the loaded vegetables have begin to rot. Surjit Singh, a trader from Patiala who is stuck on the highway in Jhiri, confirmed that the loaded vegetables have begun to rot.
