Hearing on Umar Khalid's bail plea in UAPA case adjourned

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 12 September 2023
The Supreme Court has adjourned for four weeks the hearing on a bail plea filed by former JNU student Umar Khalid, who is charged under anti-terror law UAPA for his alleged involvement in the Delhi riots of February 2020. The court stated that the case requires a detailed examination of the evidence. Khalid had challenged the Delhi High Court's rejection of his bail plea, which stated that the allegations against him were prima facie true and qualified as a "terrorist act" under the UAPA.
