No statutory vacuum, robust mechanism in place for regulating media channels: Centre to SC

The government has stated in an affidavit to the Supreme Court that there is no statutory vacuum for the regulation of content on private television channels. The government emphasized its commitment to protecting journalistic freedom and promoting self-restraint and self-regulation in journalism. It argued that there is a robust mechanism in place for regulating the content of private television channels under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act.
