Support builds for Bengaluru bandh; another on Friday

Pro-Kannada organizations in Karnataka have called for a bandh (shutdown) on Friday to protest the release of Cauvery river water to Tamil Nadu. This comes after private and public transport unions announced their support for a bandh in Bengaluru on Tuesday. The bandh on Tuesday was called by a coalition of farmers and Kannada organizations. Private school associations have expressed concern about disruptions during the examination season and have asked the government to decide whether schools should remain open on Tuesday.
