Cauvery panel recommends release of water at 3,000 cusecs to TN for 18 days

The Cauvery Water Regulatory Committee has recommended that Karnataka release water to Tamil Nadu at a rate of 3,000 cusecs daily for 18 days starting September 28. The Cauvery Water Management Authority will make the final decision on this recommendation. Previously, the CWMA had ordered Karnataka to release water at a rate of 5,000 cusecs for 15 days, but Karnataka argued that it had a deficit in inflow. Tamil Nadu had requested a daily release of 12,500 cusecs.
