Bengaluru’s rain deficit plugged, yet no respite from impending water crisis

Bengaluru experienced a severe rainfall deficit in July and August, but it was filled with excessive rain in September. However, experts say that the excess rain is of no use because the city has not utilized even 10% of the rainwater for its drinking water needs. The release of an additional 3,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu by October 15 puts Bengaluru under more stress. The city's reliance on Cauvery water continues to increase, while the yield from borewells in areas without Cauvery water is decreasing.
