UP: Yogi Adityanath govt to start distributing 25 lakh smartphones from October

The Yogi Adityanath government in Lucknow, India, plans to distribute 25 lakh (2.5 million) free smartphones to students starting next month. The scheme aims to technologically enable youth, and the government has partnered with Infosys to provide access to free courses and programs. The smartphones will be purchased from four firms, with Samsung and Lava models being distributed in the first phase. The project has been allocated a budget of Rs 3,600 crore ($486 million) for the current financial year. The distribution will take place over five years.
