Monsoon 2023 has 11 days to make up 19% shortfall in Kolkata, 11% in West Bengal

IndiaTimes Saturday, 30 September 2023
Despite a 60% rain surplus in September and a low-pressure formation over the Bay of Bengal, Kolkata and Bengal may still experience a monsoon rainfall deficit this year. By Friday, Bengal had received 11% less rain than the normal count, while Kolkata had a deficit of 19%. However, the low-pressure formation is expected to bring moderate rainfall until at least Monday, potentially bringing 10mm to 20mm of rainfall to Kolkata a day. Lack of moisture and delayed monsoon arrival have contributed to the deficit.
