IndiaTimes Saturday, 30 September 2023
Over 6.4 lakh sites in urban and rural India have been adopted for shramdaan, a mega cleanliness drive aimed at cleaning various areas such as railway tracks, airports, water bodies, slums, and more. Resident welfare associations, village communities, NGOs, and various other groups have volunteered to participate in the clean-up efforts. The army, navy, and air force will also join civilians in cleaning up garbage-vulnerable places. The initiative is part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, which has become a national behavior and household name since its launch in 2014. The theme for Swachhata Pakhwada 2023 is Garbage Free India.
