Delhi-NCR earthquake: Worried about building collapse? It's not about height
Wednesday, 4 October 2023
A series of tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR, originating from Nepal's Bajhang district. Five aftershocks were recorded following the second quake, according to Nepal's National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre. Panic ensued in areas such as GTB Nagar and NCR cities, with residents rushing out of buildings. Experts clarified that the height of a building does not necessarily make it more vulnerable to collapse during an earthquake. Scientists assured that there was no danger of widespread damage in Delhi-NCR as the epicenter was some distance away. Aftershocks were seen as a positive sign, indicating the release of stress and reducing the chances of a more severe quake.
