Sikkim flood: Work on war footing to restore road connectivity, says defence official
The Indian Army and Border Roads Organisation are working to restore road connectivity between Mangan and Chungthang in north Sikkim following recent flash floods. A bailey bridge has been constructed over the Teesta River, enabling an alternate route. The main route is also being reconnected, with two bailey bridges being constructed at Mangan-Sanklang crossing. The flash floods caused extensive damage to the area, with several parts of north Sikkim remaining cut off. The damaged National Highway 10 has now been reopened for one-way movement.
