‘Save Shirdi dogs from relocation for PM Modi’s visit’

IndiaTimes Monday, 23 October 2023
Animal welfare activists in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra are urging authorities to protect local stray dogs in Shirdi ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit. Activists are concerned that the dogs may be harmed or relocated, as happened during a previous presidential visit. They are calling for the implementation of sterilization programs to control the dog population instead. Activists have written to the Prime Minister's Office and local officials to ensure the dogs' safety. PETA India has also called on the Shirdi administration to follow animal birth control rules.
