Aged south Mumbai couple lured with Rs 11 crore PF payout loses Rs 4 crore to cyber con

A septuagenarian couple in Mumbai lost over Rs 4 crore in a cyber fraud within four months. The wife received a call from someone claiming to be from the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation, who had details of her husband's previous employment. The caller convinced her that her husband was entitled to receive Rs 11 crore from his provident fund and asked for money transfers for TDS, GST, and income tax. The couple's bank accounts were emptied, and the accused also threatened them with extortion. The police have registered an FIR and are investigating the case.
