Railways proposes ₹4 lakh crore plan to multi-track seven busy routes

IndiaTimes Friday, 27 October 2023
The Indian Railways has proposed a mega plan to invest Rs 4.2 lakh crore in multi-tracking seven high density corridors in order to introduce faster passenger trains and improve freight movement. The plan, spread over the next 10 years, includes doubling and laying of third and fourth lines on different stretches, as well as construction of flyovers and underpasses. The objective is to increase capacity and accommodate more trains on these corridors, which currently handle 41% of the total railway traffic in India.
