Mumbai: BMC asks some builders to stop work over foul air

The BMC in Mumbai has started issuing stop-work notices to builders who are not following the anti-air pollution guidelines. At least three to four construction sites have been issued these notices for failing to comply with various conditions, such as not installing sprinklers and anti-smog guns, and not using metal sheet covers and wet cloth/jute/tarpaulin covers. The guidelines also require the use of sensor-based air pollution monitors and the transportation of construction waste to designated sites. The builders have been given 15-30 days to comply or face a complete stop in work.
