The complainant, Mumbai secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vivekanand Gupta, had alleged that on December 1, 2021 Banerjee was present at a public function at YB Chavan Auditorium in south Mumbai as the main speaker and that at the end of the programme, she started singing the national anthem in a sitting position.
