Conviction overturned, BJP MP Ram Shankar Katheria acquitted in 2011 rioting case
Ram Shankar Katheria, a Lok Sabha MP from Etawah, has been acquitted of all charges in a 2011 assault and rioting case. Katheria had earlier been sentenced to two years in prison and fined Rs 50,000, but he appealed the conviction. The district and sessions court overturned the lower court's decision, stating that the charges were politically motivated. The case involved Katheria and his supporters allegedly vandalizing the office of Torrent Power and attacking the manager.
