Row breaks out over shortlist for AMU Vice Chancellor

The selection process for the next regular Vice Chancellor (VC) of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has become controversial. An AMU professor has alleged that the process was not followed properly, as the acting VC chaired the executive council meeting despite his wife being a candidate for the post. The professor raised concerns about propriety and conflict of interest. However, the acting VC stated that all norms were followed. The selection process has now reached the AMU court, with the next meeting scheduled for November 6. The university stated that there is no rule prohibiting a close relative of a candidate from being on the executive council during panel formation.
