Rule regulating Ayush ads set to go, but amendments to fill void in limbo for a year

IndiaTimes Saturday, 4 November 2023
The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has suggested that a rule regulating the advertisement of ayush drugs should only be withdrawn after amendments to the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act are passed. However, the proposed amendments have been stalled since November last year. Rule 170, which required ayush drug advertisements to be cleared by the regulator, has been challenged by several ayush drug makers. The omission of Rule 170 is subject to the enactment of the amendment bill, but there has been no progress on it. The omission has not yet been gazetted.
